However, such efforts remain invisible during both peace and re-escalation periods. Adopting a transnational perspective, the contributors highlight the various ways in which women seeking a just peace have organized against militarized patriarchy and its forms of structural violence within and across communities and nation states. Though governments and multilateral organizations acknowledge the critical role women play in peacebuilding, they remain largely absent from high-level international peace negotiations and from peace talks around the globe.
